Kristen Stewart's 'The Runaways' finds a home

In a somewhat expected move, the rock band drama "The Runaways" has found a distributor in Apparition.

Set to premiere out of competition at this year's Sundance Film Festival, "Runaways" follows the true story of the 1970s all girl rock band of the same name. "Twilight Saga" stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning appear as Joan Jett and Cherie Curie respectively as the film follows the groups bright, but short lived road to glory. Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road") appears as the group's manager and maestro Kim Fowley.

The independently financed flick is the directorial debut of Floria Sigismondi who has helmed videos for Christina Aguilera and the White Stripes.

According to Indiewire, the news isn't that surprising as River Road Entertainment, who produced "The Runaways," is also a partner in Apparition. The question was whether the film's Sundance slot meant the producers were considering selling to a larger distributor. Instead, the January film festival appears to be the launching point for the film's publicity campaign. No release date for "The Runaways" has been announced at this time, but it's hard to imagine Apparition not releasing it before Stewart's "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" hits theaters this July.

Apparition recently released Jane Campion's "Bright Star" and the solid performer "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day." Upcoming films on its slate include "The Young Victoria" and Terrence Malick's "The Tree of Life" starring Brad Pitt.
