VD_VAMPDIARIES (Darcy) Fan Account: Me and my daughter drove into Squamish from Vancouver, originally from Kamloops but we spent the night in Van. The 1st thing we see when we where coming in, about 20 min outside of town where white trailers WAY up on a hill side, right off the sea to sky hwy.....
... There was a gate and unfortunately it was locked. So we kept on going and at Murrain Lake (sp?) We saw the amazing lake that is right there on the side of the hwy, with only a few of the trailers left in the parking lot, no one was around, just some guys fishing so we knew they where done with that site. Kept driving until we reached the 1st part of town, drove around and found nothing. So remembering what Mandy (you) said about the travel center, we decided before we waste too much gas we would go and talk to them there. The guy working was super nice but pretty clued out on things...tried to tell me that most of the cast was staying at the Holiday Inn and Best Western (ummmm hello....they make how many millions and they're gonna be staying at a Best Western? Really....) but he did say a friend of his was walking through the woods the other day and saw a huge green screen but got turned around right away. He was nice enough to tell us where to go, which was just to the left of Alice Lake. Drove down there but saw nothing. Took a break for lunch, camped out at Booster Juice (hoping to see BooBoo or Kellan) but got a big fat nothing. I knew from looking for myself that the Executive Suites Hotel was booked solid for this weekend so we stuck around there for a bit. For a hotel that is totally booked up, the parking lot was SUPER empty. But still nothing.
So we went to the local Starbucks to talk to some people there and sure enough, found some good ol' twihards that said how hush hush everything has been around town and that the crew don't even put up signs to notify drivers where to go anymore and that one tip off is a bunch of white movie trailers doing U turns. But as far as they knew, everyone was up in Pemberton. Out by Whistler. Driving that far was just out of the question for us, so upset and disappointed (I'll never get an autograph in my Breaking Dawn book!) we tucked our tails and started home.
We where a good 10 min outside of town when my daughter noticed a bunch of white movie trailers...sure enough....doing Uturns, and an enclosed area, fence and all, lots of white trailers, security, and a HUGE fake rock with a green screen behind it!!! Cue fangirl scream!
We turned around ourselves to see if we could get closer but on a hwy where the speed limit is 100km/h and most go about 120 it was scary just slowing down, but we did and took a video. It was on our 2nd pass that my daughter said, theres a road that goes up, lets see where it will take us. So up we go and it was a camp ground on the top of this cliff and it went on forever. We parked and as it just started to down pour, got out and walked, hoping to be able to come in from behind the set to get a better look. So picture this...two girls walking along a cliff that was about 8 stories above the highway, in clear view of everyone driving that day, in the pissing rain. Yes we came to see and dammit we where not leaving until we did!
So we got to see the set from above....from the looks of things, they where just setting things up but there where fake flowers and trees everywhere just laying down, in the picture (sorry its hard to see I know my camera focused on the closer things)but its what looks like to be the starting of the front of a house, with steps leading down to a pathway (Bella and Edward leaving the reception maybe?) and the giant faux rock had like a box hedge on it and then the green screen behind the rock...have no clue about that one. All I know is they saw us within seconds of us getting up there and we had 4 people pointing to us and one guy pulled out his walkie talkie and was running towards his car at the same time, so we got out of there ASAP.
We also followed one car that left this set to see where he was going...sure enough, he pulled into what looked to be a lumber yard (I remember another blog posting about this one) and lucky us the gate was open...we drove in ad saw these little wooden houses being made...the wood didn't even look real. Don't know if they are for anything but the car did pull into this yard. And where did that car go? We have no idea. I was still moving when my daughter took the house pictures and by the time I turned around, the car was gone. Vanished. And there was only one road in and out!! Super hush hush is right!
