Since the beginning of time, books have been a conduit of learning, a cornerstone of human communication and, most important of all, the primary source for awesome movies.
Just check out the new Robert Pattinson vehicle “Water for Elephants,” based on Sara Gruen’s bestseller, if you don’t believe us — only a true literary genius could have ever dreamed up that gravity-defying head of hair.
And considering that some of the most beloved movies of the past decade have come straight off of the page — “Harry Potter, “Twilight” and “The Lord of the Rings” just to name a few — the marriage between books and film has never been stronger.
With that in mind, then, we decided to put together a sneak peak of all the coolest books currently being turned into major motion pictures.
Because every time you open a book, you’re seeing tomorrow’s movies today.
‘Breaking Dawn’
Attached: Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart
Status: Author Stephenie Meyer penned this obscure little novel a few years ago, to little fanfare, but now it’s… oh, who are we kidding. You probably already know everything there is to know about the eagerly awaited adaptation of the fourth and final (?) novel in Meyer’s record-shattering “Twilight” series. The action is so big this time around, though, that they had to break it into two parts; the second half of the story won’t land in theaters until Nov. 16, 2012.
Release Date/Year: Nov. 18, 2011
