LOS ANGELES, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Iconic teen drama "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" walked away from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ceremony as the top winner, garnering five awards including the best movie.
This is the third years in a row that an installment of the classic romantic vampire franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer's 2007 novel, beat out Oscar-winner "Black Swan," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I," "The Social Network" and "Inception" to win the award for best movie.
It also took the Best Male Performance award for Robert Pattinson, Best Female Performance for Kristen Stewart, Best Fight and Best Kiss for Pattinson and Stewart.
"I really didn't think I was going to win," said Pattinson. "This is kind of embarrassing now. Zac Efron was crying and stuff in that clip...Thanks for showing all your support to the movies. See you next year!"
Kristen Stewart, who played the sweet heart of Pattinson, said when receiving the Best Female Performance: "Oh, man, this is silly. It feels very incredible to be so completely supported by everybody that voted for me, it actually really, truly does. Thank you. We have obviously the greatest fans ever."
She thwarted the Emmas (Stone and Watson), Jennifer Aniston and "Black Swan" star Natalie Portman to garner the honor.
The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards, which is a slightly off-the-wall event featuring such categories as best kiss and best movie line, were presented at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City in a ceremony hosted by "Saturday Night Live" cast member Jason Sudeikis.
