Back in October, we talked about the fact that the near-century-old facade for Forks High School in Forks, Washington was being readied for deconstruction and that local officials gave the project some time, in case donations for the cost of restoration were to come in.

Now, according to the Peninsula Daily News, after months of waiting and not nearly enough in donations, the facade has finally come down.

The facade in question was from the 1920′s, and it was not the front of the building used for the Twilight Saga films, but the real Forks High School became a part of many Twilight book fans’ pilgrimages to the area.

According to PDN, the high school is being reconstructed and there’s an issue of a time capsule at play with the new building as well. Apparently, when the old facade was finally torn down, workers retrieved a time capsule that only had an old unidentifiable newspaper issue, and when they rebuild the school, a new, more elaborate capsule will be put into place for 2011.
