Tom Sturridge talks more about Kristen: "She was just... brilliant"

On The Road, Kristen Stewart
E!OnLine- Marc Malkin: It's not easy being Kristen Stewart.

Though she looks plenty pleased sitting with costar Garrett Hedlund in this just-released still from On the Road, her pal and fellow Road costar Tom Sturridge says he's seen firsthand how aggressive the paparazzi can be with K.Stew.

"I think, you know, with her and with everybody, it's just not fair, especially with like young girls," Sturridge told me the other day while promoting his new flick Waiting For Forever (out tomorrow, February 4) at West Hollywood's Standard Hotel. "It's outrageous. Men chasing young girls? It's terrible."

Working with Stewart on On The Road was anything but terrible. "She's astonishing," Sturridge said. "I think she's genuinely an extraordinary actress, and she does things in the film that I've never seen her do. But also kind of never seen anyone do. Yeah, she was just brilliant." (FYI: He doesn't lock lips with her, but costar Garrett Hedlund does.)

On the Road, an adaptation of Jack Kerouac classic beat novel of the same name, also costars Sam Riley. "It was so weird," Sturridge said. "I remember the beginning when all of us were sitting at rehearsals looking at each other being like, 'How is this responsibility of this film sitting on our shoulders?'"
Sturridge also revealed that he hasn't seen Hedlund's most recent flick, Country Strong. But he doesn't really have to. "Garrett has sung me all the Country Strong songs and acted out whole scenes for me so I feel like I've seen it," he said, laughing.

In Waiting For Forever, Sturridge plays a professional juggler who has a lifelong obsession with a childhood friend, played by Rachel Bilson. "I've definitely been obsessed with a couple of girls," said with a smile. "They didn't work out."

“Marylou took out cold cream and applied it to us for kicks. Every now and then a big truck zoomed by; the driver in high cab caught a glimpse of a golden beauty sitting naked with two naked men; you could see them swerve a moment as they vanished in our rearview window.”
-----
Marylou was a pretty blonde with immense ringlets of hair like a sea of golden tresses; she sat there on the edge of the couch with her hands hanging in her lap and her smoky blue country eyes fixed in a wide stare because she was in an evil gray New York pad that she’d heard about back West, and waiting like a longbodied emaciated Modigliani surrealist woman in a serious room. But, outside of being a sweet little girl, she was awfully dumb and capable of doing terrible things.”

The very first stills of Kristen Stewart in the On The Road have just been unveiled on the French film site CommeauCinema.com. So far, Kristen Stewart looks just incredible as Miss Marylou from Walter Salles' adaptation of Jack Kerouac's autobiography.

On The Road still doesn't have a release date, and the production company, MK2, is based out of Paris. So, that would explain why the first stills from the movie are surfacing there. For more information, please see the film's IMDb.com page!

What do you think of the first "On The Road" stills?

"K-11" Movie Script Revealed!

No comments:
Arriving recently is a rich supplement of information about Kristen Stewart's forthcoming K-11 (written by her mother, Jules Mann Stewart).

From Hollywood Life:

"This movie is about one of Hollywood’s music magnates ending up in the K-11 unit of LA’s male prison. K-11 is a unit sanctioned for gay men and transgendered who wouldn’t be able to survive in normal lock-up. He is inducted into this strange family unit that’s full of love, but tainted with rape, drug trafficking, and abuse. Kristen Stewart is rumored to play Birdy (originally Butterfly), a 19-year-old sweet, red-headed girl (naturally a boy) who befriends the new member and takes care of him. She is flighty like her name, but very damaged. She is raped by a convicted child molester named Detroit who likes Birdy because she is little and young, and to retaliate against the abuse she murders him! In the end the K11 unit works together to overthrow the guard who sexually and verbally abuses them! "

HL also unveiled one of "Birdy's" quotes from the film.

"Well, if they’d kill you on the main line – you get to go to K-11. I like to think it’s a sanctuary for broken toys. A home away from home.”
