Bella's engagement ring - Teen Vogue wants to know your thoughts!

No comments:

Would you accept a Twilight-inspired engagement ring?

Sure, Twilight's Bella and Edward have a union worth emulating, but is purchasing a band inspired by the film, going too far? One company doesn't think so. Co-designed by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer, Infinite Jewelry & Co is now selling a replica of the engagement ring Edward gives Bella in the Eclipse trailer. The ring, which comes in gold or silver, is available in different versions and price points on Infinite Jewelry & Co's site. You can purchase a costume version of the ring for $35 or a finer version for $479. But the genuine diamond version, intended to serve as an actual engagement ring, is selling for almost $2000. We're as obsessed with Bella and Edward as the next Twi-Hard, but we're not sure we would be able to accept an engagement ring inspired by any film. Would you?

What Kind of 'Breaking Dawn' Will Bill Condon make?

No comments:

Yesterday, Summit confirmed that "Dreamgirls" director Bill Condon will come on to direct the fourth installment in the "Twilight" franchise. So, what kind of "Breaking Dawn" will Bill Condon make? Well, the LA Times has a few different perspectives.

"Condon has generally been thought of as the more logical choice, at least compared to some of the other directors under consideration, like Sofia Coppola and Stephen Daldry.

In making the choice, Summit, which has gone for a different type of director for each film in the franchise, clearly wanted someone with more Oscar chops (Condon's won one and been nominated for a second). That's both because the "Breaking Dawn" material is a little more complicated than the previous books and because with the franchise already an unstoppable juggernaut, they can afford to take a risk, at least a small one.

So what kind of teen-vampire fable will the man responsible for "Dreamgirls," "Gods & Monsters" and "Kinsey" make? None of his previous directing credits are obvious analogues to this movie (though the initial frenzy over him as a candidate was a little baffling; good filmmakers reinvent themselves all the time. And it's nothing compared to Rob Marshall, another man known for musicals, taking on "Pirates of the Caribbean 4")."
Each of Condon's directorial films (he also wrote "Chicago," but we'll leave that one out) contains a strand that can be put front and center in "Breaking Dawn" if the director chose (some spoilers ahead if you're not familiar with the novel).

"Dreamgirls," for all its pomp, centers on the larger world persecuting an anointed one, a neat parallel to the ordeal faced by Bella's child. It also tells a sprawling story from several perspectives, as the "Breaking Dawn" novel does.

"Monsters," which tells of the personal and creative trouble of "Bride of Frankenstein" director James Whale, could come in handy if Condon wanted to explore the demons that come from within, a plight particularly faced by Bella throughout the series.

And a "Kinsey" influence would mean the foregrounding of a misunderstood but right-minded outsider, which kind of describes all three main protagonists in the series but especially, in this book, describes Jacob, who breaks away from his family over their murderous intentions for Bella's child.

As a rule, Condon has been preoccupied with the underdog in his movies, though one who ultimately triumphs and finds vindication, which fits nicely with the themes of "Twilight."

Still, plenty of other questions will arise as production moves forward -- namely, whether the film will shoot in 3-D, how the likely second film that will come from the "Breaking Dawn" novel will be developed, and how the timing of this one will unfold, with Summit eager to keep the momentum going but Condon, like most Oscar winners, accustomed to working at a slower pace.

In "Gods & Monsters," Condon depicted a filmmaker beset by troubles as he tried to make an expectation-laden tale of the supernatural. Here's hoping life doesn't imitate art.

Kristen Stewart In The Movies 1999-2010

3 comments:

Kristen Stewart just turned 20 but she's got quite an impressive credit roll on IMDB. Still, mere statistical lists don't do justice to her filmography. Only a retrospective is in order. And of course, I found it on YouTube...

Check out this fan video, posted by SongsJonas, that shows scenes from ALL of Kristen's movies since her first appearance in "The Thirteenth Year" in 1999. According to IMDB she is uncredited by name, only noting the momentous occasion as "Girl In Fountain Line." And it could have been left at that. It has happened before.

But when you look at the clip you get that feeling you've just seen an unforgettable face... even if for only a fleeting moment.

Hollywood got that same feeling and as the new millennium turned over, the parts started to come in. Slowly at first, but always steadily.

The result so far is stupendous. 23 movies in 11 years! And 4 more in pre-production (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, K-11, Backwoods and An American Girl.)

Kristen Stewart has come a long way. All the way from the water fountain to the top of the waterfall.

Kristen chosen 6th sexiest woman in the world by FHM

The list:

1: Cheryl Cole
2: Megan Fox
3: Marisa Miller
4: Frankie Sandford
5: Keeley Hazell
6: Kristen Stewart
7: Kelly Brook
8: Adriana Lima
9: Jessica Alba
10: Abbey Clancy

A simply stunning debut for the 20-year-old star of the $700m-grossing-and-counting Twilight mega franchise. With one film left in the trilogy (Eclipse), and a BAFTA Rising Star award on her sideboard, the LA-born actress is taking on more challenging roles. First she stars as jailbait rocker Joan Jett in The Runaways, then a Tony Soprano-baiting prostitute in Welcome To The Rileys and finally in K-11 she'll play Butterfly, a male-to-female transsexual with autism, which ironically is also Twilight's target demographic.

New Runaways Review-Kristen "is terrific as Joan Jett"

No comments:
Yes, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star in this one, but for anyone expecting a natural progression from a certain vampire series, a word of warning (or endorsement, depending on your point of view): The Runaways is dripping with sex. It’s about music fuelled by the furious desire to have an orgasm, a celebration of the X chromosome, chicks with guitars and other feminist thesis fodder. The Runaways is just the latest band biopic to vamp on that familiar riff of sex, drugs and you-know-what, but with the girls finally taking centrestage.

Played by Kristen Stewart, Joan Jett exudes badass. Shag-haired and clad in a guy’s studded leather jacket – there are precious few female role models for her to look up to – she’s hell-bent on breaking some strings and blowing some amps. When a music teacher informs her that “Girls don’t play electric guitar,” she chooses to take it as a personal challenge. Providing counterpoint is Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, a platinum blonde nymphet who is just as much a rebel and misfit as Joan; she is quietly, perversely pleased by the violent reception she gets for her David Bowie lip-sync performance at a school talent show. Joan and Cherie (and a couple of not-as-important band members) come together under the tattered wing of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon from Revolutionary Road). The Runaways are born in a derelict trailer park, with Joan on the axe and Cherie rocking the mic, as they promptly bust out their feisty classic ‘Cherry Bomb’ with next to no effort.

As you might expect from Sigismondi’s credentials, The Runaways looks and sounds great. It has a grainy, gritty visual style that perfectly complements the rough-edged energy of the music. What lets it down is the script, which seems to have been assembled out of hazy memories during a bad hangover. It was based on Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway, Cherie Currie’s 1989 memoir, which partially explains why the movie turns into the story of Cherie – the one who ended up running away from The Runaways. There is, subsequently a big blind spot where Joan’s personal journey should be. One gets the impression she ceases to exist when she unstraps her guitar. It’s a missed opportunity.

That said, Kristen Stewart looks good in a leather jacket, and is terrific as Joan Jett. Heck, when she knocks together her own Sex Pistols T-shirt and casually flips herself the V in the mirror as she’s trying it on, you believe she is Joan Jett. Unlike Robert Pattinson, whose dreadful Remember Me opened a week earlier Stateside, Stewart proves herself a very capable performer, and leaves the Twihards coughing dust in her wake. It was a calculated decision to leave Bella Swan far behind, but the right one to make. Dakota Fanning is also remarkable as the girl thrust unprepared into fame, no doubt a story she knows well. Thing is, it’s hard to get behind her the way you want to, since Sigismondi has a knack for moving on quickly just as things are getting interesting – the film, for instance, hints at a relationship between Joan and Cherie but then doesn’t know what to do with it. Perhaps another byproduct of Sigismondi’s music video experience: she doesn’t want to linger for fear of being boring.

Just as the original band owed their success to part-manager, part-pimp Kim Fowley, this movie gets it mojo from Michael Shannon, who is in a class of his own as the cocksure Fowley training his chicks. It’s Fowley that brands the girls as fetish objects, works them like a drill sergeant at band boot camp, exploits them, abuses them. (Verbally that is. It’s been suggested that Fowley abused them in ways not purely verbal, but that isn’t addressed here.) It’s a fierce performance of the sort of character you only get in real life – since in fiction he’d probably need some redemptive qualities. America didn’t really warm to all-girl ’70s rock group The Runaways the first time round. They barely made a dent in the charts and disbanded after five years. If this film achieves anything, it’s bringing Joan Jett and The Runaways to a whole new audience, which is nice. It’s just a shame that it doesn’t quite manage to rock as hard as The Runaways did.

Confirmed: Oscar-winner Bill Condon directing 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'

No comments:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Summit officially making a fourth "Twilight" film, but will it be two-parts? As reported earlier, Summit Entertainment has found its next "Twilight" filmmaker and now formally locked up Oscar-winner Bill Condon to direct "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn." While none of the stars have signed deals yet, the entire cast including Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are expected to return. This is possibly one reason the studio has not confirmed whether, as rumored, there will be one or two "Breaking Dawn" films.

“I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book - and we're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience," said Bill Condon.

The fourth book in Stephenie Meyer's popular series chronicles Bella's most advanced initiation into the vampire world to date, but is also seen by many as the most difficult to adapt of all the best-selling novels. Melissa Rosenberg, who adapted the first two novels, would continue in that role for "Dawn." Stephenie Meyer has already met with Condon to discuss the project. She noted in the release, "I'm so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he's going to be a great fit, and I'm excited to see what he does with the material."

Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment added, "Bringing Stephenie Meyer's BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity."

Condon is best known for directing and adapting the box office and critical hit "Dreamgirls" which was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won two including Best Supporting Actress for star Jennifer Hudson. The film also won the Golden Globe for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy and grossed $103 million at the U.S. box office. The filmmaker won his own Oscar in 1998 for Best Adapted Screenplay for "Gods and Monsters." He was subsequently nominated again in the same category for "Chicago." Condon also received a prestigious Director's Guild of America Best Director nod for "Dreamgirls." More impressive, besides Hudson's breakthrough, he's shepherded Oscar nominations for Ian McKellen ("Gods and Monsters"), Lynn Redgrave ("Gods and Monsters") and Laura Linney ("Kinsey"). And for those concerned about Condon's genre credentials, he's more than happy to discuss directing 1995's "Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh" to anyone who will ask. Most recently, Condon teamed up with producer Larry Mark to produce the 81st Academy Awards with host Hugh Jackman. That show received strong critical notices and was nominated for more Emmy Awards than any Oscar broadcast in history.

Upcoming projects for Condon include the potential HBO series "Tilda" starring Diane Keaton and inspired by notorious online entertainment blogger Nikki Finke. Condon will shoot the pilot for "Tilda" before "Breaking Dawn" begins prep early this summer. The fate of the long in the works "Richard Pryor" biopic and the recently announced drama "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" is still unclear.

Catherine Hardwicke directed the first "Twilight" which was a surprise blockbuster grossing $384 million worldwide. The follow up, last fall's "New Moon" was shepherded by fan favorite Chris Weitz and made an eye-popping $707 million worldwide. The third chapter, "Eclipse," will hit theaters on June 30 under David Slade's direction.

Production is expected to begin early this fall.

Kristen Stewart on Sydney Film Festival: Maybe

Kristen Stewart might appear at the Sydney Film Festival this year. She, together with Dakota Fanning, will promote the new movie The Runaways.

It's a source who stands (?) close to the organizers of the festival that says this. The festival starts June 2 and ends June 14.

Kristen Stewart named one of FHM's 'Sexiest Women in the World 2010'

No comments:

She's young, talented, and completely adorable. According to FHM, Kristen Stewart is also one of the top ten "Sexiest Women in the World 2010."

The Independent revealed the top ten on FHM's yearly list, and Kristen Stewart ranked number six of one hundred for this year (between Cheryl Cole, Megan Fox, Marissa Miller, Frankie Sandford, Keeley Hazell, Kelly Brook, Adriana Lima, Jessica Alba, and Abbey Clancy).

This is the sixteenth annual FHM "Sexiest Women" list, and Kristen Stewart's top-tier arrival on the list makes her the "[h]ighest new entry in the list."

Pretty impressive immersion into worldwide sexiness acclaim, even for Kristen Stewart. Must have something to do with all that devil-may-care legginess. Way to go, girl!
